Paul Nagle
I want simple subjects to appear as vibrating forms and agitated particles. Images should appear new, as if born from millions of tiny controlled accidents involving light. These marks are records of physical gestures that fill a psychological space with color texture and light. Each work achieves a state of being as various marks coalesce in form. My sculptures are plays of tension, conflict and resolution. Whether tension exists between surface, forms or image there is an underlying conflict at work.
Paul Nagle earned his BA at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. His M.ed. at Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Institute of Art. And his MFA at the Maryland Institute, College of Art, Baltimore. He currently lives in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and teaches high school art at Cumberland Valley High School. Paul has been producing drawing, painting and sculpture for the past 20 years.
